Where will practices be held? Because it is so hard to get consistent practice times at Green Mountain HS or Dunstan MS, we will be practicing at the Gold Crown Field House from November 1st through March 1st. We also usually have practice once a week at Dunstan MS from mid-September through October and from the first of April through mid-May.
Why do we have to pay to use Jeffco schools? We have to pay to use the GM gym for Gold Crown games. Each team in Gold Crown has to supply gym time for games. The Jefferson County AD has told the high school ADs that they need to charge for their gym time.
What is the time commitment? September and October: All players are encouraged to attend as many of the once a week practices and weekly fall league games as possible.
November through the first week in March: Beginning the first of November, practices become mandatory. Basketball is a team sport and in order to make consistent team improvement, it is important that all team members attend all team practices. Missing practice during this time will impact playing time.
Do you have any team rules? There are only a few team rules and they are geared toward building a team. These rules are in effect from the first of November through the first week in March. GAMES 1) The girls must be in the gym, ready to play, at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start of a game. Anyone who is late will not play in the first quarter. 2) If one practice is missed during the week prior to games, the player will sit out the first quarter of the next game. 3) If two practices are missed during the week prior to games, the player will sit out the first half of the next game. 4) Each player will be allowed two exceptions to rules 1), 2), and 3). 5) If you receive a technical, you are out for the rest of the half. ATTITUDE The girls (and parents) are expected to treat the referees, score table officials, opposing players and coaches with respect.. Failure to follow this rule may impact playing time. TEAMWORK The girls (and parents) are expected to treat each other with respect. Mutual respect leads to better teamwork.
